CASTLE STREET IMPROVEMENTS

ABOUT THE SCHEME...
The scheme has been designed to improve safety, accessibility, air quality, and the overall public realm along Castle Street and surrounding junctions. The works will support more sustainable travel choices and help reduce traffic-related emissions in the city centre.

The main elements of the project include:

• Upgrading the existing pop-up cycleway to a permanent, fully segregated cycleway, compliant with Active Travel Guidance

• Resurfacing the carriageway throughout the scheme area

• upgraded footways and paved areas

• Changes to the bus stop area on Kingsway / North Road

• Measures to support improved air quality, including traffic management changes, enhanced bus infrastructure, green roof bus shelters, and additional landscaping
