REDEVELOPMENT OF THE FORMER BINGO HALL SITE, PONTYPRIDD

ABOUT THE SCHEME...

We have recently been awarded the contract for the creation of a new public realm with integrated bus layby at the former Bingo Hall site in Pontypridd town centre on behalf of Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council. The redevelopment of the former Bingo Hall site commences in early February.

This exciting project will see the creation of new public realm with integrated greenery, seating, new kiosk and stepped access through to the High Street. Importantly, the existing pedestrian footway will be widened to improve accessibility for all. Additionally, a two-stop bus layby on Sardis Road will be constructed. This project also integrates Sustainable  Urban Drainage (SUDs), featuring a planted swale, rain gardens, above-ground planters, and over 150m2 of permeable paving.

Following the successful demolition of the former Bingo Hall in 2021, this project will bring the site back into beneficial community use whilst also creating a more vibrant and attractive arrival experience for those visiting the town from the South.

We have been busy constructing a base slab reinforcement for a water retention tank which will store excess water aiming to prevent flooding in the area.

Centre island reinstatement works involved the team widening the road and installing new traffic lights.
