HAILEY PARK TAFF TRAIL IMPROVEMENTS
ABOUT THE SCHEME...
The Taff Trail through Hailey Park is set to be upgraded as part of Cardiff Council’s ongoing commitment to improving active travel routes across the city. The scheme will widen the existing path to 3.5m, making it safer and more accessible for both pedestrians and cyclists, while carefully re-aligning sections to protect trees and their roots. The upgraded route will feature buff-coloured tarmac to blend naturally into the park landscape, with works managed sensitively around the important Waxcap fungi habitat under the guidance of specialist ecologists. Additional measures, including improved surface water management and the restoration of re-aligned path sections back to green space, will ensure the project both enhances the trail and protects the park’s valued natural environment.

Work on the Taff Trail upgrade will begin on 15 September 2025. The Hailey Park car park will serve as the designated site compound, where welfare units and materials will be located. Construction will be carried out in stages, with works taking place at several points along the trail at the same time. During this period, some sections of the existing footpath will need to be temporarily closed, but clearly signed diversion routes will be in place to help park users navigate the area safely.
